I studied art for one year at the University of Texas at Arlington, then I married a soldier and spent the next 15 years moving from post to post with him while raising my children. When my husband passed away, I returned to college, but I had two young children to support so I chose to get my degree in business management rather than art. I recently retired after a long career in telecommunications and finally have the time to devote to my first love - art. I am mostly self-taught through books and videos, but have also learned much from other local artists. I am inspired by places that are majestic and breathtaking as well as by those that are peaceful and soothing to the soul. It gives me great pleasure to capture the essence of these places, and the birds and animals that live there, on canvas.
The painting in this photo was selected by the Texas Visual Arts Association for their "Best of 2009 Invitational Exhibition".
